Certificate Best Practice
Provided with FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications is a 'Dummy Cert' certificate useful for testing the SSL connection between the server (Admin or Reporting) and the agent, user’s browser or other server. This 'Dummy Cert' is useful for a proof-of-concept, or otherwise testing the functionality of SSL between various components.
However, the certificate should not be trusted for secure communications.
Best practice is to use a Trusted Certificate signed by a known and trusted Certificate Authority (CA). This could be your own organization or a known third party Certificate Authority.
Please refer to the heading Obtaining a Trusted Certificate for more information about how you can apply for and obtain a Trusted Certificate.
