Upgrading FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin
You must uninstall the previous version of FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin before installing FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications 2025 R1 Admin. Read through the entire set of instructions before beginning the upgrade installation process.
Upgrade prerequisites
Prior to uninstalling the earlier version of FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin and completing the upgrade process, you need to retain a backup copy of the secondaryVendor.properties
file. This file is not updated automatically post upgrade and must be manually restored. Failure to back up this file will result in having to re-configure secondaryVendor.properties
file parameters.
To upgrade from FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin:
- Ensure that you have your upgrade license file in place. See the section, License Files for Upgrade Installations, in Prerequisites for Installing FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.
- Stop the earlier version of FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin. To do this:
- Open a Command Prompt window, and navigate to the installation directory for FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin.
- Type the command:
- flexnet stop
- Uninstall the earlier version of FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin using the instructions in the section, Uninstalling the Admin Component, in Uninstalling FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Components.
After the uninstaller finishes, do not delete the config
, data
, or logs
directories from the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin installation directory. These directories are required for the upgrade process to be successful.
- Install FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications 2025 R1 Admin. See the section, Installing FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin in Installing FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.
- During the installation, the following configurations must be specified for the upgrade to succeed.
- The DATA repository path needs to be the absolute path to the new location where DATA repository is moved.
- The FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications 2025 R1 Admin database needs to point to the previous FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin database. Ensure that the following database parameters are exactly the same as those used for the previous Admin database:
- Oracle—Database Service Name, Tablespace, Database User Name, Database User Password.
- Microsoft SQL Server—Database, Database User Name, Database User Password.
- Because you retained the
config
,data
, andlogs
directories, the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications 2025 R1 Admin installation will have the same configuration settings as the earlier FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin installation.
- Upgrade the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin database using the instructions in the following section, Upgrading the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin Database Schema.
- Start FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications 2025 R1 Admin.
- After upgrading, you need to reconfigure SSL. See Configuring FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin for Secure Socket Layer in Configuring FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.
